Craving comfort food but short on time and energy? This quick cheesy baked ziti will have everyone around the table in no time.
12 ounces Golden Grain® Ridged Ziti or Ziti
1 pound bulk Italian sausage
1 (24-ounce) jar spaghetti sauce
2/3 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
16 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
1Preheat oven to 375° F. Spray a 9x13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray; set aside.
2Cook pasta according to package directions; drain well; return to pot and set aside.
3While pasta is cooking, in a medium skillet over medium heat, add Italian sausage and cook until browned, stirring frequently. Drain excess fat.
4Add Italian sausage, spaghetti sauce, and Parmesan cheese to cooked pasta; stir well.
5Gently stir 1 cup mozzarella cheese into pasta mixture, and transfer the pasta to the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle remaining mozzarella on top.
6Bake, uncovered, 15-20 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 165°F and cheese is melted.
Cook’s Tips:
Substitute seasoned ground turkey for the Italian sausage.
Replace mixed-in mozzarella cheese by mixing one beaten egg with 1 cup ricotta cheese and add to recipe; continue recipe as instructed.
