Ingredients
1 pound (450g) ground beef
1 Onion, finely chopped
2 Cloves garlic, minced
1 Carrot, grated
1 Celery stalk, finely chopped
1 Can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
2 tbsp. Tomato paste
1 cup Beef broth
1 tsp. Dried oregano
1 tsp. Dried basil
Salt and pepper to taste
Olive oil for cooking
1 lb. spaghetti
Grated Parmesan cheese for serving
Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)
Directions
1Cook the Pasta
2Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil
3Cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions until al dente
4Drain the pasta and set aside
5Prepare the Bolognese Sauce
6In a large skillet or saucepan, heat a couple of tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat
7Add chopped onions and garlic, and sauté until they become translucent
8Cook the Ground Beef
9Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks
10Add Vegetables
11Stir in the grated carrot and chopped celery. Cook for a few minutes until the vegetables are softened
12Prepare Tomato Base
13Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, dried oregano, and dried basil to the skillet. Mix well
14Pour in the beef broth, season with salt and pepper, and bring the mixture to a simmer
15Simmer and Cook
16Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and let the sauce simmer for at least 20-30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Stir occasionally
17Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary
18Serve the Bolognese sauce over the cooked spaghetti
19Garnish with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil or parsley if desired.
