Nana's Ham and Swiss Pasta Bake

A yummy and hearty pasta bake fit to feed a crowd!

Ingredients

16 ounces Golden Grain 100% Whole Grain Penne or Elbow Macaroni
2 cups diced ham
4 ounces shredded swiss cheese
1 cup milk
1 cup half-and-half
1 cup sour cream
3 green onions, chopped
1 whole roasted red pepper, diced (I use jarred roasted red peppers)
2 garlic cloves, finely minced
2 Tablespoons butter
2 Tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

Directions
  1. Cooke Penne until it just starts to become tender (about halfway) and drain; set aside
  2. Melt butter over medium heat and add green onion, garlic, and red pepper and cook for 2 minutes
  3. Add flour, stir well and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes
  4. Add milk, half-and-half, and half of the shredded cheese
  5. Cook, stirring constantly over medium-high heat, until sauce becomes thick and bubbly
  6. Remove from heat; stir in sour cream until combined
  7. Add ham and pasta, stirring until pasta is coated with sauce
  8. Pour into a casserole dish and spread remaining cheese on top
  9. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until cheese starts to brown
