How are prepared dishes such as lasagna frozen?

For best results, freeze your favorite recipe before baking. Follow the instructions below.

To freeze lasagna:

Assemble the lasagna in a baking pan as the recipe directs omitting mozzarella cheese from the top. Do not bake. Cover the pan with freezer wrap or heavy-duty foil, or place pan in a large heavy plastic bag and seal. Freeze for up to 2 months.

To bake lasagna: Thaw lasagna overnight in the refrigerator. Remove wrapping. Cover with foil and bake as directed for the minimum bake time; uncover and continue baking until hot and bubbly. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese and bake 10 minutes longer.

Tip: To store the frozen lasagna without the baking pan: Before assembling the lasagna, prepare and cool the recipe components. Line the baking pan with foil or two layers of plastic wrap before filling. Assemble and freeze the lasagna. When frozen, lift the lasagna from the pan, peel off the plastic wrap, place in a large plastic freezer bag, seal and return to the freezer.

To bake, unwrap the lasagna and return it to the original baking pan. Bake as directed above.
